It was a sweet day

Today was a "mom and me" day... a day when we stay home, veg a bit, craft a lot. . . and do pretty much whatever the little lady of the house desires.

Today she wanted everything cupcakes....

This little sock cupcake didn't turn out quite like I had hoped. I had visions of creating lots of these from all the random socks we having lying around. These were made from infant socks. . . a bit to small I think.

So we made her a little shop where she could make and sell her treats. The stand is made from pvc. Paper cut with a scallop trim just taped to the top. And of course a cash register for the very important 'play' of learning how to count money. I must say, I'm quite proud of my little paper construction!

The hubby and I placed our orders and got Maria's brain working hard trying to make correct change.

She is taking our order here...

When questioned why she didn't pay for her own cupcake, Maria responded, "I'm the shop owner, I can do whatever I want!"

This is Maria's all time favorite book. Mostly for the black and white cat as the main character that reminds her so much of our beloved Figaro.
A SUPER fast card I tossed together. LOVING that I can draw my own designs and have my Silhouette cut them out!

Here is a visual for how I cut the pink plastic tablecloth shown in the sweetshop. I cut it to size, folded it in half, then in half again. I used a small plate as my guide and simply cut through all the layers at once. Plastic tablecloths cut quite easily. Open the tablecloth up and repeat for the other side.
The entire project didn't take that long and it was as much fun putting together as it was to play pretend cupcake shop!
